Leave the village, cross the Marseille Canal built by Montrichet in the mid-19th century then climb up to La Jacourelle. You'll already be able to smell the thyme and pine trees. Obviously, you're in Provence! Venture further and you'll find the commemorative headstone for the Civil Security tracker that crashed during a forest fire operation !
Now you're halfway and at the foot of Castellas Rock where you'll find the ruins of Lord Tarron's castle tower. You're in the heart of the Chaîne des Côtes mountains and its Mediterranean nature. Your effort at the top of the hike is rewarded by fabulous views of the Durance and Luberon to the north. Now you can take your time wandering back down to the village through the Petit Vallon.
