Silvacane Abbey
Inspired by the legend of Cynara, a young mortal punished for disobedience, the exhibition explores the mechanisms of a power that tolerates neither withdrawal nor the reclaiming of autonomy, and which inscribes punishment into bodies and matter.
The installations form a journey between transformation and resistance. In the refectory, a field of stone artichokes evokes a transformed body, rendered mute and enduring. In the dormitory, a monumental confrontation restores a human presence to Cynara, facing a disempowered authority.
Through this project, the artist makes visible the narratives and bodies whose voices have been altered or silenced, and questions how refusal can be transformed into a fault, then inscribed as a lasting mark.
